Apologies to all for the lack of polish on my critique of your images last night!!
As most of you already know public speaking is not my forte and is at its worst when I am unprepared and have no crib sheet!!!

By the time I had finished looking at all the images I realised there were some general comments I should have made about the entry as a whole.

As I mentioned there was a general lack of sharpness in quite a few of the images and I feel that the file sizes were not large enough for A3 prints in many cases.

The other general comment I should have made was a lack of a strong focal point in some of the images.
We have to be careful when selecting our entries that there is a clearly defined focal point with leading lines etc. The other important consideration is the height and angle of the camera when capturing the image. A simple adjustment can transform the image from a record shot in to a winner!

On a positive note the most striking thing in the entry was the quality of the mounting.
The workshop by Alec Ramsay certainly has paid off.

I hope I have not offended any of you with these comments.

I think Magie did an excellent critique. 'Of the cuff/first impession' comments are usually the most beneficial. Maggie was very positive and fair about all pictures. Her comments about sharpness and focal point of interest are VERY relevant to us all as we aspire to improve out pictures.
